US (GA): Medical cannabis facility coming to Milledgeville

Treevana Wellness, a state-licensed medical cannabis manufacturer, has selected Milledgeville as its next site for a facility. Jim Frazier, general manager of Treevana Wellness, made a presentation before the Milledgeville City Council last Tuesday and provided an overview of the company.

Treevana currently operates in five states across the country. City Council had a first reading last Tuesday of an ordinance to rezone the property at 3015 Heritage Place from community commercial to light industrial for use for a "medical cannabis and cultivating and processing facility."

Treevana was among the companies approved for state Class 2 status licenses, meaning they can grow medical cannabis in an indoor space up to 50,000 square feet. Frazier said the company plans to launch its new local facility at Heritage Place, which is across from Walmart.

Treevana officials plan to initially hire between 30 and 50 employees at the Milledgeville location. The jobs will pay well and each one of the employees will be required to wear an employee badge at all times.
