NB Liquor corporate stores have reopened for cash transactions only after a "potential cyber threat" forced the corporation to take its systems offline. The security issue is also impacting Cannabis NB with stores unable to accept debit or credit card transactions until further notice.
Lori Stickles, the CEO of both corporations, said their security controls detected "some anomalies" in their system late Tuesday.
"We immediately engaged our external expert partners and began investigating a potential cyber threat," Stickles said in a statement Thursday afternoon. "As a preventative measure while the investigation progressed we made a decision to take down our systems."
NB Liquor posted to Facebook early Wednesday afternoon saying that its corporate stores would be closed temporarily due to "point-of-sale system issues."
