"AI Agronomist not only identifies the problem but also takes context into account. For instance, it considers environmental factors and recent changes in cultivation practices before providing actionable recommendations. It's the AI version of an agronomist," explains Dima Chernobilsky, CEO and Co-founder of GrowDirector. The company has recently secured $1 million in seed funding to develop and market their newest AI tools: AI Agronomist, Agri Notes, and AI Sales. Dima explains that these tools are designed to further help growers with crop care, environmental monitoring and sales support.
AI Agronomist
The flagship AI tool, AI Agronomist, has just launched and made its way to the first growers. This software enables growers to diagnose plant issues—such as diseases, pests, or nutrient deficiencies—by simply taking a photo. Powered by image recognition and machine learning, it analyzes data from growers, USDA databases, and real-life agronomists, providing personalized solutions tailored to the grower's specific environment.
Dima explains that the tool is suitable for any type of crop, from vegetables to flowers and cannabis. "Trials with medical cannabis farms have already been conducted and demonstrated its effectiveness. Every medical farm has an agronomist, of course, but having AI as a backup is invaluable. Humans can't process data at the scale AI can," Dima adds.
GrowDirector's decision to develop AI Agronomist was influenced by the company's active participation in grower communities. "We participate in WhatsApp groups with growers, where 80% of the questions are about identifying plant issues," says Dima. "This inspired us to address growers' pain points with a solution that combines AI and agronomy expertise."
More AI
But that's not all. Agri Notes complements AI Agronomist as a digital diary. "It integrates environmental data from greenhouse systems and offers actionable advice to optimize growing conditions. By keeping all critical information under one digital umbrella, it streamlines daily operations for growers, from small farms to large-scale greenhouses."
On top of that, GrowDirector's AI Sales tool supports distributors by providing instant answers to product-related inquiries. "This feature reduces wait times for support and ensures distributors can make timely and informed decisions, enhancing the customer experience."
Global expansion
With new partnerships in place with DeCloet Greenhouse, FarmTek, and Sapco for distribution, GrowDirector is continuing to expand its presence in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. "The adoption of AI in horticulture is on the rise. Our suite of AI tools is well-positioned to offer growers a competitive edge in an increasingly complex market," Dima adds.
