Cannabis entrepreneur Chris Chabot questions whether the most vulnerable businesses are being protected under the current market in Vermont.
"The rules are not supporting the nature of the law but overall, there's a lot of really hard workers," he said. "We're really trying to do our best and do our due diligence and make sure we're following the rules."
About two months ago, Chabot opened a retail store called Freedom Flower Direct in Morrisville. He has been a manufacturer for about two years, creating the first cannabis beverages in Vermont. He also runs a small cultivation operation.
Chabot said he's "under no qualms that this is a really hard industry to be in and that it does take a lot of investment and a lot of hard work." He's putting in six to seven days a week and as many as 12 hours a day.
