Ohio dispensaries have sold nearly $200 million in adult-use marijuana since the program launched in August, according to new state data.
Product sales hit $191 million by the end of November with over 2.5 million receipts on the books, the Division of Cannabis Control reported last week. Adults 21 and older could start buying recreational marijuana in August, months after Ohioans voted to legalize adult-use cannabis.
"The cat's not going back in the bag," Ohio Cannabis Coalition spokesperson Tom Haren said during a panel last week. "Ohio has a legal, adult-use program. That program is here to stick around."
There are 124 Ohio dispensaries licensed to sell adult-use and medical marijuana, with over 100 more expected to come online through the state's 10(B) licensing process. Under the voter-approved law, marijuana growers and certain dispensaries could apply for 10(B) licenses to open additional stores.
