It has been nearly 4 months since legal sales of recreational marijuana began in Ohio. Experts initially said the market had the potential to be a multi-billion dollar industry, but with changing regulations, sales have not boomed quite yet.
"I think we all kind of expected the beginning of rec sales to be like what happened in Illinois, where it was like an explosion and people formed lines out the door," says Tracey McMillin, COO of Pure Ohio Wellness. "We didn't really have that."
As of the end of November, the Ohio Department of Commerce reports that a little more than $191 million dollars has been spent on recreational marijuana sales.
However, McMillan says that, unlike other states that saw a large influx at the very beginning, their dispensary, as well as many others in Ohio has seen more of a steady rise in sales since August.
