US (MS): Professionals advocate for patient needs ahead of critical legislation session

The future of medical cannabis in Mississippi is an ongoing conversation at the State Capitol. Some medical cannabis professionals are falling just short of a flourishing business with limitations on advertising and other restrictions.

However, ahead of next year's legislative session, some professionals are hoping to shift the focus to patient needs. One medical cannabis entrepreneur, Evan Daily, told WLBT 3 on Your Side that he chose the field because he believes in the health benefits.

"Nobody's getting rich. I can promise you that. Nobody's even making the money back right now," he said. "The stigma of cannabis being a drug. There are so many different ways to consume this product as far as topical. It can change your life."

Mike Watkins is a veteran. He now works in the medical cannabis industry and says he has experienced the health benefits firsthand.
