US (CA): Company pledges to change after odor complaints

Residents in one Cathedral City neighborhood are complaining of a strong odor coming from a nearby cannabis grower that they say is negatively impacting their day-to-day lives.

Almost all of these residents live at the Outdoor Resort Palm Springs — a RV park located on Ramon Road, near Date Palm Drive. They packed the room at a recent city council meeting, and several of them spoke during public comment to share how they feel about the cannabis smell.

Cat City Cannabis Co. is located right next door to the resort at 69-375 Ramon Road and started operations in January. It claims to be California's largest indoor growing facility on its website, with a building size of 325,599 square feet on a nearly 20-acre parcel of land.

David Bernard, chief operating officer of parent company CC Industry, said Cat City Cannabis Co. has been communicating with residents and urges complaints to be directed to its public relations department or to him directly so they may "provide accurate updates and communicate our willingness and efforts to resolve the problem."
