Mold is one of the biggest issues in cannabis production. As cannabis is highly regulated, both in the medicinal and recreational worlds, it's imperative for growers to be able to provide high-quality, mold-free products, or they risk losing entire yield cycles. This is true for greenhouse growers, and indoor operations, and even requires proper drying room designs.
Successful medicinal cannabis production
SafriCanna is a South African, GMP-EU and GACP-licensed medicinal cannabis producer that was facing some mold challenges. "Because of the sizes of our flower rooms and the number of plants we have, there was an excess in the amount of moisture. If you can't manage humidity, you'll have a lot of issues with mold and bacteria, including diseases like powdery mildew," says grower Chad Esch. One company that has been providing a solution to this issue is DryGair. The dehumidification manufacturer has been working on mold prevention since 2010, creating a product that delivers dehumidification and patented air circulation for optimal cannabis production.
Esch adds, "I've worked with different dehumidifiers in the past, ranging from top-of-the-line brands to the bottom of the line. We're currently experiencing issues in our other room with other dehumidifiers that create too much heat and consume too much energy."
"However, since using DryGair we've seen improvements to our product quality and yield. We've been able to reduce the amount of mold. At the end of the day, we extract a lot more flower from the rooms than we used to."
