US (NJ): Hearings start for cultivation facility in Teaneck

An application to install a cannabis retail dispensary and cultivation facility in a light industrial area off Route 4 began hearings before the township's Planning Board on Wednesday.

Attorney Jason Tuvel addressed the board on behalf of the Nutra Leaf LLC retail store and adjacent T-Verde LLC cultivation facility proposed for the light industrial zone at 455 Alfred Ave.

Tuvel told the board the business already has its conditional licenses from the state and a "resolution of support" from the township. It is a conditional use in the industrial zone, Tuvel said, requiring testimony regarding odor control, noise, security, and lighting. The only variance required is one for parking.

General Manager Jay Almonte was the only witness. He testified that the combined cultivation and retail activities will consume 1,300 square feet of the 62,000-square-foot warehouse. The store will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with no more than 10 employees on-site at any time.
