US (NJ): West Orange township considering license applications

James Jackson, CEO of cannabis cultivating company YerrCanna, spoke at the recent town council meeting. "Today we successfully submitted our final application for final approval of a cannabis business here in the township of West Orange. We are super excited to come for you all, hopefully sooner than later." He requested that the council place him on the November 12 meeting agenda. "I would like to be the cultivator that supplies the [cannabis] business in town, and more businesses that will continue to open, so we look forward to the opportunity to come here in front of you all and look forward to the opportunity to be excellent community members serving the community," stated Jackson.

Council President Bill Rutherford and Council Members Asmeret Gebremicael and Michelle Casalino all told Jackson that they look forward to reviewing Yerrr Canna's application.

Regarding Kemistry LLC, according to township attorney Mark Moon, West Orange had planned to send a letter of recommendation to the state for them, but it was revoked because Kemistry had to find a new location. When they found a new location, their application was incomplete.

Casalino stated, "I don't mind us going back if somebody presents something, and it's missing X, Y, or Z, but at any given time, everybody needs to be on a fair playing field, and that was kind of the issue at the beginning of the process. When a complete application comes to this council, we should grant an interview."
