US (OK): Cannabis company lay off 120 staff

An e-commerce cannabis dispensary has notified the state it is laying off 120 employees in Oklahoma City.

Mood Cannabis filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice with the state on Sept. 20. The WARN Act requires employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60 calendar-day advance notification of planned closings and mass layoffs of employees.

Mood launched in 2022 as a national online-only dispensary based in Oklahoma City. Unlike medical marijuana that is regulated by the state, Mood sells products infused with low-THC hemp. Hemp enjoys a more relaxed legal status than cannabis, which allows Mood to sell across state lines and avoid restrictions placed on medical cannabis dispensaries.
