Thousands lined up on Friday, Sept. 20 waiting to walk inside Cookies by Capitol Wellness, a new medical marijuana dispensary in Baton Rouge.
"Today is the biggest day in Louisiana for medical marijuana," Pharm. D, CEO and Capitol Wellness Solutions Founder Randy J. Mire said. "We've been waiting for this day for years," Mire said.
Louisiana's first licensed medical marijuana dispensary is now open at 1940 O'Neal Lane. Mire said the program helps patients in need.
"I can't tell you, daily, the patients that come through here for insomnia, anxiety or chronic pain. People pulling up front seeing when we were opening, and the stories that they give you about how we've helped them get off their opiates, not taking as many pain pills, sleep better at night, not have anxiety is absolutely amazing," Mire said.
