The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy has issued the state's first-ever health and safety recall.
The recall has been put in place due to health and safety concerns in cannabis products throughout the state. Eight cannabis stores in Maine have recalled multiple products due to mold and yeast audit testing.
"It has arisen out of a licensee not following what OCP told them to do, and not following the regulations that govern the adult-use cannabis program in Maine," Office of Cannabis Policy Director John Hudak said.
Hudak says three strains of cannabis flower and pre-rolls produced by Cannabis Cured were recalled due to the health risks of inhaling mold.
"We identified some irregularities and launched an investigation and ultimately we found there were products that did make their way to market shelf despite OCP working to prevent that," Hudak said.
