Australian grower steps up inventory management and compliance game

Medicinal Harvest is a federally licensed cultivator of medicinal cannabis in Southeast Queensland, Australia. The company started planting its indoor facility in June 2021, and since then, it has undergone an expansion that has tripled cultivation capacity.

Medicinal Harvest had been on the lookout for a software package that would streamline the regulatory compliance record keeping and inventory management, especially in the context of their rapid growth. BumperCrop software was the selection that they made.

"We had been evaluating compliance management systems for some time, but they were complex to use and tended to be quite expensive, especially as more users were added to the software license," said Tracey Perez from Medicinal Harvest.

Tracy continues: "To be honest keeping paper records and using a spreadsheet suited us at the start while we figured out exactly what we needed. However, during the planning phase of our stage two expansion, we actively sought a software package that would ensure efficient record-keeping as we grow. When we met Adam Forbes, the Managing Director of BumperCrop at a conference in 2023 it became clear that BumperCrop allows flexibility with how the system is configured. We engaged Adam and his team to customize the reports and to make a few other changes to suit our needs Any issues have always been addressed quickly."

Lauren Meredith, the Sales and Implementation Lead at BumperCrop said, "The grower sets up locations that are identified by an RFID tag throughout their facility. The workers scan the tags and enter information such as cultivation quantities and batch numbers. The data is then automatically uploaded to the BumperCrop cloud, where reports and scans can be viewed via a dashboard."

"With BumperCrop, we know exactly how many plants we have/had in each location in each flower room by batch, on any given day. For instance, if we want to see our plant inventory on a date three months ago, we simply enter the date in the dashboard and the report appears. The system works in a similar way for tracking kilograms post-harvest," explained Tracey.
