US (NM): Cannabis company gets $50,000 for job training

A Las Cruces cannabis company was allocated more than $50,000 in state funds for job training, the New Mexico Economic Development Department announced Wednesday.

Higher Cultures LLC, a cannabis company with locations in Grants Pass, Oregon and Las Cruces, will receive $50,130 to train seven new employees with an average wage of $21, according to the New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD).

The money is part of a $1.2 million fund that the EDD approved during its July 2024 Job Training Incentive Program board meeting, which will be used to hire and train 93 new employees at 11 businesses across the state.

According to EDD, "Higher Cultures aims to provide the best quality cannabis products in New Mexico, to run a responsible and profitable business, and to create quality jobs in the communities in which they operate. Higher Cultures New Mexico is focused on manufacturing, the area the company has the most experience in."
