US (MN): Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe ventures into cannabis industry

The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe has launched of its newest business venture, the Sweetest Grass Dispensary by Leech Lake Cannabis Company. This marks a significant milestone in the Band's economic development initiatives, aimed at promoting self-sufficiency and sustainable growth within the community.

The Sweetest Grass Dispensary will have a soft opening exclusively for Leech Lake Band members on June 3, 2024 at 10am. This special event will offer Band members the first opportunity to explore the new facility, learn about the products, and celebrate the Band's newest venture. Customers must be 21 or older to enter the facility and purchase products.

Following the soft opening, the grand opening for the general public is scheduled for June 6, 2024 at 10am. The Sweetest Grass Dispensary is located at 6838 Y Frontage Road NW, Walker, Minnesota and will feature a wide range of high-quality cannabis products, cultivated and produced with the utmost care and adherence to industry standards.

"We are excited to embark on this new journey with the opening of the Sweetest Grass Dispensary by the Leech Lake Cannabis Company," said Faron Jackson, Chairman of Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. "This venture not only represents a new economic opportunity for our Band but also reinforces our commitment to creating sustainable, community-driven business models that benefit our members and the broader region."
