Missouri announces winners of 48 cannabis microbusiness licenses

Missouri issued 48 cannabis “microbusiness” licenses on Monday to cannabis industry entrepreneurs, expanding the state’s legal market.

The state licensed six additional dispensaries and 12 wholesale cultivators in St. Louis area congressional districts. The additional licenses were mandated in the constitutional amendment voters approved this past November, legalizing marijuana for individuals 21 and older.

The state said the next phase of the licensing process includes a minimum standard and eligibility review for awarded licenses.

The 48 new micro businesses — including two dispensaries and four wholesalers per congressional district — will compete against already licensed entities. Wholesale microgrowers face a 250-flowering plant limit, which doesn’t apply to “comprehensive” cultivators that are already licensed.
