"With propane equipment, cannabis growers gain more control and convenience while cutting costs"

Propane power offers unique advantages to cannabis industry

As the cannabis market continues to grow, it’s important to note the many benefits of choosing propane-powered equipment in this industry. For greenhouse heat and power generation, no other energy source gives cannabis growers the reliability and freedom that propane does. But the flexibility to take your operation off the grid is just one of many unique benefits that propane-powered equipment offers cannabis growers.

Maintain Precise Temperatures
When it comes to maintaining the very specific conditions and temperatures needed for growing cannabis, reliable propane is the optimal fuel choice. Propane-powered heating allows growers to maintain temperatures within 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit of the desired temperatures, for consistent and precise temperature control. The reliable performance of clean, nontoxic propane is ideal for growing plants that demand precise temperatures throughout their environment, and ensures high plant quality.

Plant-Safe and Clean
Propane is nontoxic for plants, plus it is a very low emissions source for a greener operation all around. As our country continues to make the shift toward more renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources, American-made propane is a leader in this clean energy revolution. Prime power generators fueled by propane produce up to 72 percent fewer sulfur oxide (SOx) emissions than using electricity. As an approved alternative fuel under the Clean Air Act, propane use ensures cannabis growers can easily and conveniently meet all Tier 4 Standards and EPA regulations.

Take Control Over Your Farm
The use of propane for greenhouse heating/cooling and power generation means never having to depend on the power grid and always having access to the energy source you need to keep things running. With propane, cannabis growers have the freedom to power their operation anytime and anywhere, without worrying about their operation’s location in relation to a gas line or power grid system. Without relying on electricity, cannabis growers can remove the risk of unexpected power outages that can quickly wreak havoc on a growing operation. Cannabis growers can also avoid peak pricing and rest easy knowing they will have the uninterrupted power they need to keep their operation running smoothly.

With more than 60,000 miles of pipeline and thousands of suppliers, propane is readily available

throughout the U.S., and because it does not degrade over time, it can be stored on-site to be used whenever growers need it. With propane, growers can take back control over their operations with continuous access to reliable propane.

Lower Upfront Costs, Cost of Ownership
Being a producer is not easy and all of the equipment necessary to get the job done, and done well, is far from cheap. Because these costs add up so quickly, cannabis growers must carefully consider not only the purchase costs but the long-term costs of any piece of new equipment. Propane can help cannabis growers lower fuel costs throughout every season, and modern building heaters are 11 percent more efficient than older models.

In addition to lower upfront equipment costs, propane-powered equipment costs 20 to 40 percent less and the total cost of ownership is where propane equipment really sets itself apart. Because propane burns cleaner and leaves fewer deposits, there are less maintenance issues and extended equipment life. Additionally, propane costs are generally lower, and the Propane Education & Research Council-sponsored Propane Farm Incentive Program offers incentives in exchange for real-world data for even more cost savings.
