Ondara Directorship has decided to reorient its activity and start producing cannabis for medicinal use in Europe's largest red roses greenhouse. According to a statement from the company, they have already prepared its greenhouse located in Garray (Soria) for the change of crop and are waiting for the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS), dependent on the Ministry of Health, to grant them permission to produce cannabis for medicinal purposes.
This license would allow the company to start growing cannabis on 3.5 hectares of the 14 hectares it has in its greenhouse.
A six-million euro investment
Full Moon Investments (FMI), a US venture capital company dedicated to connecting investors with cannabis producers, is Ondara's parent company. In June 2020, the company began the process to purchase the production plant -which was then owned by Aleia Rosas and was dedicated entirely to the cultivation of red roses- committing to invest in the asset, its workers, and in the social and economic environment.
The company now seeks to expand its commitment to the society of Soria and Castilla y Leon with this new and ambitious project, which will require an initial investment of six million euro and the reorientation of workers linked to the company to this crop.
The staff will have the opportunity to be trained in the necessary skills required for this crop, as the jobs in Ondara's cannabis production will require the development of technical skills. In addition, the company will hire new professionals, which will lead to a notable import of talent to the province.
