Identifying key challenges of the Dutch controlled cannabis supply chain

It is time! The 3rd of December the Dutch government will announce which growers will be assigned to make the controlled cannabis supply chain (Gesloten Koffieshop Keten Experiment) successful.

Nerve racking and exciting times for the participants to find out if they developed a winning business plan. As Cultivators we have seen their eagerness to make the experiment a success and the challenges these companies faced during development of the plans. To make the experiment a success, the participants stressed that cooperation among participants will be crucial to manage all the challenges in the experiment. Cooperation while also guaranteeing fair and open competition between the parties.

Cultivators invites all selected growers to participate in a first digital kick-off event. The goal for the first meeting will be to identify the key challenges during the experiment. What will make the experiment a success, but equally important, what makes the participation in the experiment a success for your business.

Cultivators has been involved in the Experiment from the start and already identified with participants some key topics that needs to be addressed such as:

  • Quality standards and procedures for products and packaging
  • Safety of the facilities, surroundings and in the entire supply chain
  • Logistics and Transportation of products to the Coffeeshop (track-and-trace)
  • Communication, education and representation of stakeholders
  • Continuation of the experiment after the 4-year period, in any shape or form

These topics are recognized as mutual interests of all participants  to ensure the experiment, will succeed.

Cultivators therefore developed both working groups as plenary meetings for participants to cooperate on all opportunities and challenges. Under supervision of our legal counsel we will ensure fair competition among all participants. We as a company are committed to make the experiment a success. We want all of the selected growers to join us.

The date of the kick-off meeting will be announced shortly after announcement of the selected growers.
