Taks Handling Systems takes over Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility

Taks Handling Systems, located in Etten-Leur, The Netherlands, has taken over all shares of Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility in Asten. This is an important step in the company's growth strategy.

Taks Handling Systems develops, builds and installs complete harvest processing solutions in packaging halls for greenhouse vegetables and fruit worldwide. Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility develops and produces scissor lifts, harvest trolleys and AGV for the greenhouse. Together they want to offer complete turnkey solutions to growers.

The private equity firm Victus Participations made this step possible, by buying some of the shares of Taks Handling Systems and Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility. Arie Meeuwissen will remain shareholder and Managing Director of Taks Handling Systems and will also become a shareholder and Managing Director of Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility.

Ensuring growth and development
Taks Handling Systems aims for growth. In recent years, this has resulted in an accelerated expansion of the team to 70 employees, supplemented by a team of self-employed workers. Arie Meeuwissen is the driving force behind this growth strategy. With his clear vision to be a leading party in the market, his enthusiasm is contagious. The objective is to be able to offer a complete range of machines for the design of packaging halls and internal transport.

Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility aims for innovation. From their new building in Asten, 30 employees develop and produce the machines for internal transport and crop care solutions in the greenhouse. Erwin Berkvens will remain fully involved with the company and will focus on R&D. This guarantees his knowledge and experience.

Both gentlemen are very enthusiastic about this takeover: “We believe that the corporate culture, the quality of machines and our innovative strength fit together completely.” The takeover has no consequences for the personnel. The Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility brand will continue to exist in the market.

“Because we can now offer complete (turnkey) solutions for crop care, internal transport and harvest processing, both companies have the room to grow further. Both nationally and internationally.”

Erwin Berkvens: “We have found the ideal buyer in Taks Handling Systems. Our visions of the market, way of working and product quality fit in seamlessly. We now have more room to develop our product portfolio. The sale feels like a good and logical step for our customers and employees.”

Partner for realizing international growth
“We aim for continuous growth, both organically and through strategic acquisitions,” says Arie Meeuwissen. To further realize international growth, Victus Participations has acquired an equity interest in both companies as a partner. “We are very happy with Victus because it focuses entirely on growing companies in the Food & Agri market. With this strong partner, its expertise and contacts in the greenhouse horticulture market, we can realize our international growth ambitions.”

Shared vision
Both Taks Handling Systems and Berkvens Greenhouse Mobility are already internationally active and have an excellent quality reputation. Both companies work on innovative developments, often together with their customers. Efficient and ergonomic harvest processing are the main pillars here. The overarching goal of the growth perspective is to be a total provider for complete projects in greenhouse horticulture and soft fruit.
