Hortilux introduces Hortiled Top Summit & Vertex

"LED fixtures have to fit seamlessly with the grower’s existing situation and new requirements"

Growers have a wide range of different business and cultivation goals, meaning that every grow light solution is unique. "LED grow light is increasingly used in existing greenhouses, so the LED fixtures have to fit seamlessly with the grower’s existing situation and new requirements. For this reason we took our time in developing the Hortiled Top Summit & Vertex, ensuring that the fixture design and the potential light recipes were ideally suited to every situation, for maximum results per square meter," Paul van der Valk with Hortilux shares.

“Low-treshold investment”
"There is an enormous range of growers’ requirements and of possibilities within a greenhouse. However, three major trends can be identified and the new Hortiled Top Vertex & Summit offer the perfect solution for these," Paul says and sums up:

1.  The need to achieve the highest light intensity with the available electrical capacity;
2. Realising the biggest possible energy and cost savings;
3. Incurring the lowest possible up-front investment and operational costs.

“Biggest energy saving”
With an efficiency of up to 3.5 μmol/J, the Hortiled Top Summit is amongst the most efficient LED fixtures on the market. "When combined with our knowledge of grow light and light plans, this results in the highest possible light intensity, or the biggest energy and cost saving."

Low-treshold upfront investment
Both the Hortiled Top Vertex and the Summit dovetail with various business and cultivation goals. "The efficiency of up to 3.2 μmol/J means that the light efficiency is extremely high, which in turn results in higher production and/or energy savings, and the upfront investment required is low."

LED in combination with HPS
In the coming years, many growers will be adding LED grow light to their existing HPS grow light systems, creating hybrid grow light systems. "The design of a hybrid grow light installation depends on the grower’s objectives," Paul explains. "We use these objectives as the foundation for the ideal light plan with the appropriate evenness and depth. We also help growers to find the optimal business case using our Scenario calculation model."

The Scenario calculation model was developed by Hortilux’s engineers, and enables several scenarios to be calculated and compared simultaneously. In a number of these scenarios HPS fixtures can easily be replaced with LED fixtures, often without the need to modify the electrical installation and ground cables. This reduces the upfront investment, with the operational costs of the LED fixtures much lower as well.

The ideal LED light recipe for your crop
Thanks to the developments in LED and hybrid grow light systems, growers are seeking the ideal LED spectrums for their crops. "LED grow light means new opportunities for their crops. Reasons for choosing LED include an increased ability to steer on crop characteristics, less need for chemical growth regulators, and more consistent production. We assist growers and growers’ unions with setting up different types of LED tests so that together we can find the ideal LED spectrum."

“Lowest possible investment”
Growers often see the many advantages that LED grow light offers, but are also aware that the purchasing costs for LED fixtures are higher than for HPS fixtures. Therefore, Hortilux advises growers on several options. "For example, we can tailor a grow light solution to the conditions attached to a potential subsidy application. This can bring great benefits."
