Even though the Election Day has not given a final result as to who is going to be the next President of the United States, voters in four states have approved the legalization of recreational cannabis, and other two states have approved increased access to medical cannabis.
Arizona voters have approved Proposition 207, which legalizes the use and possession of cannabis by adults aged 21 or older, according to Forbes. On top of this, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota all approved cannabis legalization. South Dakota also approved a separate measure allowing for medical cannabis, thus becoming the first state the goes from prohibition to full legalization in a single move.
The last state to have allowed for medical cannabis is Mississippi, with more than two-thirds of voter support. With all these states passing cannabis laws, the signal to the Congress about cannabis policy becomes even stronger than in the past.
