Vincent Stauffer, director of Hortinergy:

“We’ve made everything international in the new version”

In October, Hortinergy will launch the newest version of their software for the American market. Vincent Stauffer, director of the company explains what has changed since the previous version. The Hortinergy software is used to simulate and design traditional, closed and semi-closed greenhouse projects, and users are greenhouse builders, equipment suppliers, growers of all kinds of crops, from vegetables to flowers to cannabis.

Units of measurement
In the new version, all units for both input and output, will be in different units, since many people in the US are less familiar with the international units of measurement. “We’ve made everything international so that the user can choose. For instance, Fahrenheit, BTU and feet are now also options to choose from.”

Weather database
Another update is that over five hundred weather stations’ data from 2010-2015 has been added in North America, which increases the weather predictability. “The software generates a weather file for the prediction, so it is important to have as much weather data as possible.” Due to the larger number, the calculation for the design of the greenhouses is way more accurate. It will include in November the IPCC climate change scenarios for 2030, 2040 and 2050.
