Turkey is an important horticultural country and a gateway to surrounding countries. Therefore when the Turkish production site of Van der Knaap was in the way of a new to be constructed ring road, they decided to use the opportunity to move and upgrade the facilities. Since last October they are in full swing again.
In October, Van der Knaap's Turkish production site Antalya Substrat celebrated its grand reopening in the presence of customers, business partners, suppliers, staff and local government officials.
Dutch company Van der Knaap Group established a production company in Antalya, Turkey in 2012. "A few years ago, the Turkish government presented its plans to construct a new ring road, directly over our production facility", they tell us. "In the years that followed, a new production site was realised about 500 meters from where the previous location stood."
Professional horticulture
Antalya Substrat is unique in Turkey and focuses on the high-end, professional horticulture in Turkey. The company produces rooting media, such as paperpots, in various diameters and substrates that are tailored to the customer's wishes. They also supply Forteco growbags and coco products. In addition to sales in Turkey itself, Antalya Substrat also exports products to surrounding countries.
