This year, Morocco has granted 2905 cannabis licenses

The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities has issued 2905 cannabis-related licenses out of 2942 requests studied in the year 2024, compared to 609 licenses granted in 2023, covering a total area of 2552 hectares (compared to 286 hectares in 2023).

According to data from the agency, 2737 licenses were granted to 2637 farmers in Taounate, Chefchaouen, and Al Hoceima for the cultivation and production of cannabis, as opposed to 430 licenses in 2023, and another 168 licenses for 61 stakeholders (1 pharmacy, 16 cooperatives, 37 companies, and 7 individuals).

The 168 licenses for stakeholders, which adds to the 179 granted in 2023, is distributed between 48 for industrial purposes, one for medical purposes, 45 for marketing activities, 39 for export purposes, 7 for seed importing, and 28 for transport activities.

The agency also mentioned that the National Office of Food Product Health Safety has issued 73 licenses for the use of local seeds on 1262 hectares for 73 productive cooperatives (1225 farmers), including 11 import licenses for 286 hectares benefitting 22 productive cooperatives (285 farmers).
